Programs
We offer three main programs, which are geared towards preparation for national certification in these areas. These three programs are Surgical Assistant, the only one of its kind in South Florida, Surgical Technology, and Medical Billing and Coding both high demand skills and certification required by many doctors and physician assistants.
In addition we offer on evenings and weekends, many valuable continuing education courses and programs required to remain current in the field. For hospitals and medical facilities who find training time consuming and tedious we do provide contract training solutions on and offsite.
Surgical Assistant (SAS)
This is an advance level program designed to provide technical knowledge
and skills to individuals who wish to be first assistants to the surgeon
in the operating room. Individuals eligible to take this course would ideally
have some operating room experience. Typical candidates would be surgical
technologists, operating room nurses RNs/, LPNs, physician assistants and
foreign trained physicians with operating experience. We also offer a version
of the program which allows medical assistants and students with College
credit in relevant courses such as Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry and
Biology. Upon successful completion of this program, you will be eligible
to take the national certification exam.
Admission/Entrance Requirements
- Must submit a Program Application as well as an Admissions application.
- Must submit official transcripts of previous training to the education department.
- Must establish placement by transfer credit, college entrance exam scores.
- Must complete a panel interview with the program director and DOE.
- Must have prior medical experience
Surgical Technologist (STS)
The Surgical Technology program prepares students for employment in a variety
of surgical settings and auxiliary positions. The program includes extensive
classroom time as well as practical experience preparing Surgical Technologists
for all major specialties in the operating room. . Upon successful completion
of this program, you will be eligible to take the national certification
exam.
On completion of the program students/trainees should be able to effectively:
- Recognize elements of good patient care and prioritize them before less important elements in the operating room.
- Behave professionally in a stressful environment with demanding personalities while remaining calm and focused.
- Accurately
plan for and perform duties of a Surgical Technologist in the scrub role
in common surgical specialties.

Medical Billing and Coding (MBC)
The Medical Billing and Coding Program provides the student/trainee with
the knowledge and skills essential for employment in a variety of medical
offices. Obtaining a Medical Billing and Coding certification recognized
nationally enables the student to gain work as a medical biller or coder
and take on responsibilities required to work in hospitals, medical clinics,
physician's offices, and insurance companies.
On completion of the program students will be able to use and apply the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) handbooks and terminology associated with the procedures. Medical billing students will also have computerized medical billing and hospital billing knowledge, along with worker's comp guidelines and necessary preparation to start a medical billing service. Some of the courses to be covered include: Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Medical Terminology, Medical Insurance, and Legal & Ethical Issues in the Health Professions. . Upon successful completion of this program, you will be eligible to take the national certification exam.

Professional Development and Continuing Education
We offer a variety of courses and programs for the professional and personal development of individuals and companies in the medical field. These courses are held all year round on weekends, evenings, afternoons and even in the morning for company group training. Our instructors are experts with many years of experience in their chosen careers.
We also offer offsite training for companies who wish to use their own equipment and facilities. We provide flexibility and convenience for our clients and facilitate the best training that will increase your individual and corporate productivity. The following are some of the courses we offer.
Suture Seminar for Urgent Care Practitioners 16 hours (2 days)
This seminar is designed to help Urgent Care Practitioners and Operating Room Registered Nurses develop insights and “hand on skills” on wound closure. Basic wound closure will be reviewed including aseptic preparation and dressing.
Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants considering a job in an Urgent care setting will find this course very helpful.
Note: This professional medical certification course prepare students who are already in the working medical field to enhance skills levels to take State or National examinations
CPR and First Aid 8 Hrs (1 day)
This class is designed to provide the fundamental knowledge and skills required for effective performance of CPR and First Aid. This basic class is 8 hours in length. The class covers adult, child, and infant CPR and foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO) removal procedures. The course will also cover the usage of the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). Class sizes are limited to allow for each student to practice on their own manikin, which will ensure maximum skills practice for this course.
All CPR classes follow the new American Heart Association's 2008 Guidelines. Each student will be provided a new textbook at the start of each class. This course will satisfy all requirements for taking a certified CPR course. Students will earn at the completion of the course an American Heart Association (AHA)
CPR course completion card that is good for two (2) years of certification.
INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS 32 HRS (2 Weeks)
This course has been developed as a friendly introduction to the world of computers. Students will be provided with instruction on computer basics including: components of the computer, keyboarding basics, mouse basics, computer terminology, types of OS & software , file and folder creation, file management, using your mouse, creating saving and printing documents plus introduction to Internet and basic email functions. Upon successful completion of this program, a certificate will be awarded.
INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET (16 hrs-1 week)
This hands-on introduction to the Internet will cover the concepts of the World Wide Web and its resources including basic Internet tools. The course will introduce a variety of Internet applications and advanced search techniques.
Learn to browse library catalogues and reserve books, communicate with and trace route to your Internet provider, configure your e-mail, get updated drivers and software to protect your HDDs from viruses, join IRC news chat, use ICQ and Voice Chat to save long distance call expenses, download and create browseable copies to view off-line and save paying for on-line time. Class lessons will include many practical activities. Upon successful completion of this program, a certificate will be awarded.
